Mini Session Guide

EXPECTATION | PREPARATION | STYLING | DAY OF SESSION

Hello! Thank you for choosing Studio Photography to capture your memories. I’m so grateful you've decided to work with me! My goal is to provide each a fun, thoughtful and professional photography experience that truly captures the essence of you and your family. I strive to provide a stress-free experience and timeless photos to cherish forever.

I'm a lifestyle portrait photographer with a love for telling stories through my camera lens, and being a mom of three boys - so I have a few tricks up my sleeve in getting kids to smile. I believe no moment is too small to celebrate.

I take a connection-centered approach to my work: I don't just want to photograph you once and say goodbye, I want to be your lifetime photographer - capturing each special season as your family changes and grows.

I'm not afraid to get down on the ground for that perfect shot or to hike to the top of your favorite hill at sunrise. I can't wait to meet you and document your family's legacy.

EXPECTATION

Plan to arrive early! Mini Sessions move QUICK. They are booked back to back without extra time in between. The sessions are designed to get a few formal photos and some candid/natural photos. Stay calm and relax! Please don't worry if your child seems less than happy. I am a mom and I know firsthand kids need movement and get bored easily. Let them be kids and trust me to do my job!

Be ready to play! Have some songs in mind and special activities you like to do with your child like high fives, eskimo kisses etc. Those bring genuine moments and smiles. Just have fun, snuggle, and relax. Your Photos. They will be delivered in an online gallery where you will be able to pick your favorites and possibly purchase more from gallery than promised in mini session. My turn around is no longer than two weeks.

PREPARATION

Prepare your kids!
Prior to the shoot, get your kids excited! Tell them that they will meet a nice lady that loves kids and being silly with them. Don't tell them to "smile or be good". My job is to get natural genuine laughs not fake smiles.

Pack some essentials.
Wipes, favorite snack and favorite toy. Take that out only if necessary ;) You can even bribe them with ice cream after the session. Moms, prepare the Dad as well. Usually they are less enthusiastic then you. A bribe works for them as well, hopefully better than ice cream: But seriously, just tell them it's painless and to focus on playing with your kids, snuggles and truly enjoying each other.

STYLING

This may be the hardest part of the session! I try not to get too involved in this decision because I want my clients to be themselves and most importantly to be comfortable. Generally there are some rules. Coordinate, but don’t have to match exactly! I recommend picking what Mom wears first and coordinate the colors from that outfit. If you don't feel comfortable, don't wear it because it will show.

Avoid neon colors, logos, keep patterns limited to one person. Layers look great! Think about muted colors versus bright/vibrant. For example think maroon not bright red, burnt orange not bright orange, mustard yellow not bright yellow. Select well fitted clothes for kids not something they will grow into. Make it special not something you wear every day!

Day of session.

If the weather looks bad with rain or snow in the forecast, then I will let you know if we need to reschedule day of the session prior to 10 AM. I always try to accommodate everyones needs and schedules (especially because we live in Northeast Ohio).

If it's cooler than anticipated, please put sweaters on your children. They get so uncomfortable when they are cold! Likewise, if its hot and you have sweaters on, consider wearing something else. It's not fun being sweaty and it's almost impossible to edit.

You will receive your gallery in about two weeks where you will choose your favorites for the price of the session or purchase more images if you would like. I have packages set up in the gallery store to make choosing prints, easier. Most of all, bring your smiles and positive attitude! I can't wait to see you and have some fun with everyone!
