The month of November was full of challenges for our little family. On November 7th, my water broke unexpectedly. As I drove myself to the hospital in disbelief, then was later transferred via ambulance to UH Rainbow because I was only 34 weeks and 6 days. Little did I know, our third child was on his way.

I had a plan. From photo sessions I wanted, down to my time off work… but life doesn’t always go according to our plans.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Maximiliano Mateo Lott was born at 8:01 that Thursday night, with some minor breathing complications. We spent 8 days in the NICU at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital as our little guy got better each day, but we stayed until his breathing got better. Each staff member at Rainbow and the Galaxy NICU unit was fantastic to us.

Thankfully, the time we spent together in the hospital, allowed me to bond with my new baby boy and capture some moments and details of his sweetness.

At home, the older two boys both got sick and were unable to visit us at the hospital until the day we were discharged. I made sure to greet them at the door and love on them before I introduced the three brothers. It was such a special moment. My amazing husband of 10 years, was such a strong helper and supporter during the entire process and took care of the two older boys, while Max & I were at the hospital.

After 8 days, we got to go home and start life as a family of 5, and the next day we celebrated baby Max with a small, “Welcome to our Pumpkin Patch” sprinkle.

Though Max’s early arrival has thrown us for a loop, we are so thankful he is here. It barely feels like it, but one month with this little blessing has made our lives so much better. His big brothers love him and I’m thankful to have my 3 boys.
